Please soften your wax before you come in
To help with efficient and comfortable wax removal, use wax softener drops for 1–2 days before your appointment. This makes a real difference to how well the microsuction works on the day.
What to use
- Simple olive oil — safe, effective and inexpensive.
- Cerumol or Waxol — over-the-counter wax softeners from any chemist.

Do not use softener drops if you have…
- Ear pain, or a discharging ear
- A known hole (perforation) in your eardrum, or grommets
In these cases, please do not put any drops in your ear — see a doctor first, or call reception on 03 9581 2661.
How to use it
- Apply the drops for 1–2 days before your appointment.
- Can’t prepare in advance? Even olive oil 1–2 hours before your appointment will still help.
Why it matters: softened wax is far easier and more comfortable to remove by microsuction. Coming in well prepared means a quicker, gentler appointment — and the best result for your ears.
On the day
- Appointments are by appointment only and walk-ins cannot be accommodated.
- Please cancel your appointment if you have fever or cold/flu symptoms.
- Bring your Medicare card so the rebate can be claimed on the day.
