Fees

A Medicare rebate applies for consultation and micro-suction cleaning of one or both ears when performed by your doctor. All microsuction wax removals are performed by experienced doctors.

The clinic will submit a Medicare claim for you, so a refund is sent directly to your bank account by Medicare. The total fee paid on the day is inclusive of the Medicare rebate and varies according to the duration and complexity of your appointment. However, the total out-of-pocket cost to you after your rebate remains as described below.

For Medicare card holders

Weekday
Out of pocket after rebate
$90.95
Weekend
Standard fee, out of pocket after rebate
$116.95

Without a Medicare card, a flat fee of $170 ($190 on weekends) applies, including any follow-up visits.

Please note β€” occasionally little or no wax is found, and in those cases the out-of-pocket fee still applies.

Your appointment is a consultation with an experienced doctor, who examines your ears and advises on any ear concern β€” so the fee covers their time and care, not just the wax itself. If wax is found, your doctor will assess and remove it. And if your blocked ears aren't due to wax, your doctor will still diagnose, advise on and help you manage the cause β€” which may include medication, treatment, or referral to an audiologist or ENT specialist.

Locations: Glen Waverley (Blackburn Road) and Bundoora. Microsuction is performed by an experienced doctor and a Medicare rebate is available.

Good to know

  • Full payment needs to be made on the day. Your doctor uses Tyro EFTPOS so the Medicare rebate can be claimed immediately and paid into your bank account.
  • If a follow-up visit is needed to remove further wax after a period of softening, the follow-up visit will be bulk billed.
  • The total fee varies depending on complexity and time, but the out-of-pocket charge to you remains the same.

Late cancellation / no-show fees

Your doctor kindly asks that you provide sufficient notice if you’re unable to make your appointment, so the time can be offered to another patient β€” at least 24 hours’ notice is required. A cancellation / no-show fee will otherwise apply, and is not rebatable through Medicare.

If circumstances beyond your control prevent you from cancelling with sufficient notice, please notify reception as soon as possible. To cancel, call 03 9581 2661.
