Ear Wax Cleaning

Why choose a doctor to clear earwax?

Skilled GPs β€” not just wax removal

The doctors are all Fellows of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, with many years of experience in general medicine and surgical procedures between them, including:

  • Skin cancer excisions
  • IUD insertions
  • Caesarean sections
  • Wound debridement and repair
  • Fracture management
  • Critical care

Not every patient with a blocked ear has earwax as the cause. Your doctor can assess and treat ear diseases including:

  • Otitis media & otitis externa
  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Sudden sensorineural deafness
  • Vertigo and tinnitus
  • Sinusitis and mastoiditis

Your doctor can prescribe antibiotics and refer to public ENT clinics or private ENT specialists where needed.

A Medicare rebate is available to all Medicare card holders. No referral needed.

Before your appointment

To help with efficient wax removal, use wax softener drops for 1–2 days beforehand. Simple olive oil is safe and effective, or over-the-counter Cerumol or Waxol from the chemist. If you can’t wait, olive oil 1–2 hours prior will still help.

⚠️ Do not use drops if you have ear pain or a known hole in your eardrum β€” see a doctor first.

Note: The Bundoora clinic has relocated to 568 Grimshaw Street. Infection-control protocols and PPE are used for patient safety.
